August Fly Fishing in The Shade? Yes!
11:37 am cdt
The best of Texas Fly Fishing is almost upon us as we enter Fall where the lakes, streams and the Gulf Coast becomes 'fishable'
(from a heat tolerance point of view). I have several locations and time frames where my students have get in a fly
fishing lesson before Church or after work. I will supply all the gear during the lesson and then recommend several
places where you can get your own gear without paying a lot for it. Even with this hot month, our lakes and streams
have come alive and will be vibrant for the next few years to come. Also, planning a trip out of town? Why not
learn to fly fish BEFORE you go? Your guide will be able to spend more time putting you onto fish. Regardless
of whether you are a beginner or experienced fly fisher let's take you to the next level and call or text me at 210-414-7418
to schedule your lesson.

I enjoy working with my lady students. The fly rod does 90% of the work for them and it will for
Have more fun learning to fly fish with friends & family to save money!
This summer has been a very active and hot one, families are fishing together more than ever this year and they taking advantage
of the group lessons for 2 ore more students at one time. Normally each lesson is $55 per student, but more and more
of my students are bring a buddy or 2 along take reduce their cost per lesson. For example, if a students brings two
buddies along, the fee is reduced to $120 total which means he or she will end up splitting $40 each. With more students
the time is extended to allow for sufficient "indvidual attention" per student. Since the instructor supplies
all the fly rod gear to use during the lesson, there is minimal out of pocket expense. Since the big rains of Spring
and Early Summer 2015 we have seen a big increase in outdoor water based activities, especially fishing. Please contact
me to discuss ways you can learn how to start fly fishing!

Fly Fishing Lessons in the Rain?
All this rain will eventually mean much better fishing for all of us as our local lake levels rise and our rivers eventually
subside into safe enough flows. However, in the meantime, we still have time to develop our fly casting skills in between
those non-rainy days. I have expanded the available hours to accommodate those days when conditions are favourable for
a lesson, which means no rain or lightening in the area. Because of all the rain water run off into our local
creeks and streams, you could see a much different fishing environment that what you experienced in the past (of course, I
mean when the flows slow down to safe levels). For example, current flow on the Guadalupe River in the trout stock area
bewlow Caynon Dam have been well below 100 cfs and have actually hovered around 60 cfs in the previous 3 years or so.
Now if the flows go up to 150 to 250 and sustain at these levels that could not only improve the trout fishing but also present
new challenges to your cast and presentation. Learning some key "slack line presentations" will help you deal
with tricky current situations and increase your odds of cathing trout. I offer an intermediate lesson on these types
of presentations at the San Antonio River Park by the zoo. So let's plan some time together and call or text at 210-414-7418.
